Welcome, I'm Raia! I'm a stay at home mom blessed with four crazy kids and married to my best friend. I'm a simple girl who doesn't necessarily like to cook - but I love to bake and be creative (and I love chocolate)!
All my recipes are tried and true - some of my favorites from growing up raised by a health food nut, some I have clung to since becoming a mom, some I've discovered from my life overseas, and some I've just made up myself.
Seeing as I'm not a chef, all these recipes are relatively simple, healthy (even some in the desert category!) and inexpensive dishes.
When I first began this blog wayyy back in January 2010, it was just a hobby. I had recently served as an editor for a local cookbook, and I thought, "Hey, that was fun. I should make my own cookbook." Not wanting to spend the time and money on actually publishing one, blogging seemed to be the next logical option.
Then, one fateful month after starting my blog full of wonderful savory whole wheat and egg-ful goodness, I discovered I was gluten intolerant - and allergic to eggs. All the months of pain and un-lost pregnancy weight since the birth of my son finally made sense. When I dropped the gluten and eggs from my diet, I felt 100% better and lost my pregnancy weight almost immediately. Upon finding out I was pregnant again in 2011, I was hopeful that my intolerance would reverse, instead I found out I could no longer tolerate dairy either!
This blog has been a journal of my journey from the faithful comforts of wheat, eggs, milk and good 'ol butter to the strange unknowns of sorghum, tapioca, flax, coconut milk and so much more…. : )
Let the adventure begin!
Me and the little stinky reason I'm gluten-intolerant. . . but he is worth it all!
